About Cefoprox® DT

Rating of sales:

Cefoprox® DT manufacturer is Cipla. Cefoprox® DT is designed in a form of dispersible tablets with a tangy orange flavor especially for children’s convenient use. The raw material of the medication is Cefpodoxime, a semisynthetic antibiotic belonging to the third generation Cephalosporins.

- upper respiratory tract infections (acute otitis media (AOM), pharyngitis and/or tonsillitis; acute bacterial sinusitis);

- lower respiratory tract infections (chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia (CAP));

- uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTIs) like cystitis;

- uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA), or Streptococcus pyogenes (group A beta-hemolytic streptococci).

MOA (mechanism of action):

Cefpodoxime gets rid of infection by attacking the bacteria’s cell wall. Specifically, it inhibits the synthesis of a substance in the cell wall called peptidoglycan, which fortifies the cell wall and thus helps bacteria survive in human body. Cefpodoxime has demonstrated efficacy against Moraxella catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli (beta-lactamase- negative strains), Klebsiella spp., Serratia spp., Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Providencia spp., and Salmonella spp.

Cefoprox® DT dispersible tablets can be either swallowed with a drink of water, or first dispersed in water (5-10 ml), and then swallowed.
