About Tenovate® Ointment

Rating of sales:

Tenovate® Ointment is manufactured by GSK. Tenovate® Ointment is a topical treatment formulated to relieve inflammatory and itchy manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses, eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Tenovate® Ointment comprises Clobetasol Propionate as an active ingredient. It is a corticosteroid of glucocorticoid class with a high steroid potency. Clobetasol Propionate acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic agent.

Tenovate® Ointment is indicated for swelling, rash, irritation, redness, and itchiness associated with:

- dermatoses;

- eczema;

- psoriasis;

- dermatitis unresponsive to milder steroid medications.

MOA (mechanism of action):

Clobetasol Propionate activates the phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins and prevents the release of arachidonic acid from the phospholipid membrane. This inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, eicosanoids, prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines. When there is a reduction of aforementioned irritation-causing mediators, rash, itching, redness, pain, and swelling start dissipating.

Tenovate® Ointment is normally applied to the skin 1-2 times a day depending on the severity of the skin problem.

Tenovate® Ointment is for topical use only.

Tenovate® Ointment should not be used in patients under 1 year old. The smaller the child, the less amount you should apply.

The treatment course should be no longer than 4 weeks for adults and 5 days for children.

Before you apply the ointment, ensure the affected area is clean and dry.

Apply a small amount of the ointment to the affected area. Gently rub until the ointment is evenly distributed.

Wash your hands before and after using Tenovate® Ointment.

Consult your doctor on how often to apply Tenovate® Ointment. Use Tenovate® Ointment exactly as directed.

Missing a dose

If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose.

Store at a room temperature from 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F) away from moisture and heat. Throw away the tube after the expiration date. Keep away from children.
